 FAQs

  • The name “SpoonScale” is inspired by the Spoon Theory, a concept created by Christine Miserandino in 2003. Christine used the theory to explain what it’s like living with chronic illness and limited energy to a friend. She used spoons as a metaphor for units of energy. Each action or decision throughout the day uses up a spoon, and once you’re out of spoons, you’re out of energy.

  • SpoonScale helps you manage your social energy by providing a simple way to communicate how much interaction you can handle. Whether you’re full of energy and ready to connect or feeling drained and needing some space, SpoonScale allows you to update your current energy level so your friends and family know where you stand.

  • SpoonScale isn’t a social media app. Its primary purpose is to help you share your social energy levels with the people closest to you, not to facilitate messaging or interaction within the app itself. We intentionally designed SpoonScale to be free from 1:1 messaging or comments, as the focus is on keeping things simple and allowing users to communicate their energy levels without added pressure.
